In today's world email scams abound and no one is proof against them. Even nonprofits like Wisconsin Writers Association can fall victim to online predators trying to leverage a known name. Our very own president - Luella Schmidt - was targeted in early 2025. Emails were sent to WWA members under her name, requesting that they purchase Apple gift cards as incentive for other members. Thankfully we were notified quickly and able to send out a mass email to all WWA.

Know that WWA will never ask members to purchase anything on our behalf. As a non-profit, any financial transactions are completely voluntary.
